THE HARBOUR ROAD AND SEWER
The basalt-paved harbour road, which led from the city to the northern harbour gate, now runs between the Romano-Germanic Museum and its administrative building The 33-metre-long and 6-metre-wide road was excavated in 1969/1970 and moved 6 metres to the south. Next to the harbour road is a 5-metre-long section of the sewer that joined the old arm of the Rhine at Kurt-Hackenberg-Platz.
The fountain between the road and the sewer is not original but rather an adaptation of Mediterranean models.
